When battling to repair a LED strip like you obviously are i would suggest using those loose led boards. The Chinese on Aliexpress like calling it "3V LED Beads"
We use a 1mm thick thermal adhesive strip and glue those boards on the backplate directly. To do this you remove the old back lights, reinstall the reflector sheet back in place so that with a thin marker you can draw the holes in the reflective paper onto the back plate so that you can mark the exact position where those led boards must be mounted. Then with thin wire you can recreate the circuit. I have had good success doing so. Unfortunately because of the limited thermal dissipation because those boards are narrow i also look for a way to reduce the LED current. Sometimes i do it on the board by removing a resistor and other times i make changes in service mode to reduce the led current. Reducing the LED current means the led board will run cooler thus your tv will last. I don't trust Chinese manufactured items. These guys cut corners. I know for a fact that they use and sell third rate components. The good stuff is sold to the TV manufacturers and the excrement is sold on Aliexpress.

At this point I see why your changing them that way, you should of just bought replacement single LEDs instead of trying to remove them.

I don't know what type you need or voltage but this kit probably has it. If you measure the LED you'll know, and what voltage you need

      I believe they are measured as, 3030 is 3mm x 3mm and 2830 would be 2.8mm by 3.0mm

      might help

Thanks for that link i have ordered that kit as handy too have in stock.

Wellsir ... seeing how I have $51 invested in the strips that I can't return and $10 in the heat plate, I will try using them, I guess I should replace all the leds in the strips with the bad ones. I will see how that goes.

Wellsir ... I'm making progress. I got an electric cord from an vacuum that no longer works and hooked up the heat plate to it. I was a bit worried about powering it up so I took it outside to test it. It gets plenty hot went up to 450 degrees according to my heat gun. I screwed up with the first two leds ... I damage them, but I was able to figure out how to use it and I removed 18 leds. I tested them and they are all good. I was able to tell which is the positive side of the led and which is the negative. Tomorrow I plan to solder the working leds into the strips. With two strips hook together with each led at 3v each with a total of 12 that would make it 36V. I want to test the complete strips so I figure to use 4 9V battery, but can you tell me the correct way to hook them up. Should all the negatives be together and all the positive. Like a wire going to each negative terminal and a wire attached to each positive? Also any recommendations for soldering the leds in place?🤔

Thanks for that link ... I got the leds replace, soldering was no easy task with my shaky hand. So I just replaced the bad ones. I'll be ready to reassemble it after the test.

Wellsir ... I failed completely ... I just could not get those little led soldered in properly. I have a piece of crap soldering iron. The solder just would not stick and I was burning up the led. To make matters worst the dang iron quit on me.🤬 Unfortunately I have to put this project on the back burner until after the holidays ... I have guest coming and I need to move the tv out of the guest room where I am working. Can any of you suggest a good soldering iron?🤔

That price seems crazy high for a basic iron.

Did you use the hot plate to remove the leds? i also use my hot plate to replace them just drop the new led on the pads and let strip cool down

That with a station was the cheapest I could find. The others with a station were $115.00 to $170.00🤑😱

That hot plate gets really hot. I'm afraid it will damage the led, and I would have to remove the strips from the TV. I feel more comfortable using a good soldering iron.😐

I got the TV from a friend. He claims that no image but sound from the TV.
I confirmed that when shine a flashlight on to the screen, I can see the image. And this should be backlight problem.
I open up the TV and found a few leds failed. And now I am ordering a new set of backlight strips for it.

But there is something that I do not understand when checking the leds. I do not have an led tester. I only use a bench power supply. I first set the voltage to 3V and current to 10mA. I could not light up the led until I increase the voltage to 12V. I understand most...

RCA RLDED 4331B: 43 inch LED TV: Backlight issue
                              by lmcancu
Hi I am having an issue with the LED backlight of this TV. I can see the picture with a flash light, so I determined it was a backlight issue.

Initially, after opening it I found 2 shorted and 1 open LED on 2 strips (total of 4). I removed the LEDs and shorted the pads together to verify if the backlight would work.

Testing it, I found the backlight turned on and I measured 54V when TV was in standby (off), and 100v when TV was turned on. The 4 strips each contain 9 LEDs, so 36 in all minus 3.

Instead of putting it back together I decided to replace...

Sceptre X505BV - Logo appears for 1 sec then backlight shuts off, LEDs tested good
                              by events.b
Hello, this TV currently has me stumped. As the title states, when I power on the unit, the backlight comes on for 1 second then shuts off. The TV is still on, and I can see the video if I shine a flashlight on the screen.

Using the LED backlight tester I was able to confirm all LEDs are illuminating and seem to be working correctly when independently powered by this tester, so that leads me to believe there is something wrong with the power supply board.

Perhaps the great minds here can help me figure it out, as I don't see any thing obviously wrong with it. The...

Vizio M70-D3 4K with dark spots backlight issue
                              by Yanleb
I have a Vizio M70-D3 4K with a dark spots backlight issue. It is using the Y8387248A backlight driver board.

On this model each of the 64 transistor powers 2 LEDs. Using my TKDMR TD3H backlight tester I've determined that the backlight LED strips were the issue, and the backlight driver board was just fine. Some LED pairs required 5.9 volt at 155mA, some required 9.5 volt and some were completely open.

I've removed the LCD panel and once the LED strips were exposed I've tested them again by connecting my LED tester directly on the test pads. To my surprise all, I've...

                              Hi There!
I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth...
